FORMAT AND EVENT DETAILS:
  • WHEN:  Sunday, December 28th 2025, 1:30 pm - 6:30 pm. Rd #1 starts at 1:30 pm.
  • SCHEDULE:  1:00 check in, 1:30 - 6:30 tournament
  • WHERE: North York Academy(155 Consumers Rd, Suite 101,North York, ON M2J 0A3)
  • WHAT: 5-round single-round Rapid Event (Swiss), using a 25 min + 5 sec time control.
  • REQUIREMENTS: Players must be born after Jan 1, 2008
  • SECTIONS: U8 U10 U12 U14 U16 U18(sections may be combined if there are insufficient players)
  • RATED: CFC Quick Rated
  • TIEBREAK RULES:  1) Direct encounter 2) Buchholz 3) Number of games won (not including forfeits) 4) Sonneborn-Berger
  • REGISTRATION: On-line registration ends  Dec 28th at 10:00 am. No on-site registration will be accepted.
  • ENTRY FEE:  $40/ entry by Dec 24th; regular : $50; $ 30/ entry for CFC Newbies Section ( Junior unrated players only , no qualification )

  • NOTES: No requested bye points in this event. Clocks and chess set are provided. By signing up, you permit Chess4win the ability to take and use photos from the tournament on its social media. If you would not like your photo used, please email us at [email protected].

PRIZE: Trophy for the first place, Medals for the second and third place in each Division. 

QUALIFICATION:

  • Players who score 2.5 points qualify for CYCC 2026.
  • Players who score 3 points qualify for the Canadian Junior Scholarship Final on January 18 2026, with a $5,000 guaranteed prize fund.

WITHDRAW POLICY:

  • Pre-registered and pre-paid participants who withdraw at least 3 days before the event start date are eligible for a refund via EMT, subject to a $5 handling fee deducted from the entry fee.
  • Withdrawals made 1 day before the event will receive full credit, which may be applied to future events.
  • No refunds or credits will be issued for withdrawals made on the tournament day.
