Registration: On-line registration ends October 24th at 10:00 pm. No on-site registration will be accepted.
Capacity: up to 150 players
Time Control: 75 minutes + 30 seconds a move; 30 minutes + 30 seconds a move for Junior U1100
Format: 5 Rounds Swiss
Rated: Top 2 sections are both FIDE and CFC rated. U1500; Junior U1100 are only CFC rated
Section: Open(1900+); U1900; U1500; Junior U1100

Round 1: Saturday, October 25, 9:30 am
Round 2: Saturday, October 25, 2:30 pm
Round 3: Saturday, October 25, 7 pm
Round 4: Sunday, October 26, 10:30 am
Round 5: Sunday, October 26, 3:30 pm
Junior U1100 Schedule: October 26th at 10:30 am, 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm, & 4:30 pm
The default forfeit time for any game is 30 min
Entry Fees: $100 Regular (80 Early Bird before October 15th); $60 Regular for Junior U1100(50 Early Bird before October 15th); Free entry for players with a CFC regular rating over 2200. Players aged 60 and above with a CFC rating of 1600 or higher are also eligible for free entry. Limited to 10 spots.
Playing up: Add $20 if playing up. A player must be within 100 points of the rating floor for the section they wish to play up in.
Byes: A maximum of two half point byes in the first 3 rounds if requested with entry; zero points byes are allowed for round 4 and 5; All bye requests must be emailed to [email protected]
Prizes:$300-$200-$100 for top 3 highest scores in O1900; $250 - $150 for top 2 highest scores in U1900 and U1500 sections; $50 for the first in Junior U1100(Prize money is split between winners in case of a tie. ) Additional $1000 prize for the Top 3 overall scores from the 3 Markham Opens (based on the best performance in any 2 events between September and December).
Special notes: The organizer will supply all chess pieces, chess boards, and clocks.; In case of equality of points the ranking will be decided by tie-break using 1) Direct encounter 2) Buchholz 3) Number of games won (not including forfeits) 4) Sum of the rating of opponent
Cancellation Fees: A $10 processing fee will be applied for any cancellation prior to October 18th. After October 18th, no refunds will be given.
