FORMAT AND EVENT DETAILS:
  • WHEN:  Sunday, October 19th 2025, 12:30 pm - 6:30 pm. Rd #1 starts at 1:00 pm.
  • SCHEDULE:  12:30 check in, 1:00 - 6:00 tournament, 6:00 - 6:30 ceremony
  • WHERE: 730 Cochrane Dr #1,Markham (Duncan Academy , spacious place with free Wi-Fi , indoor badminton court and table tennis room) 
  • WHAT: 5-round single-round Rapid Event (Swiss), using a 25 min + 5 sec time control.
  • REQUIREMENTS: Players must be born after Jan 1, 2008
  • SECTIONS: U8 U10 U12 U14 U16 U18
  • RATED: CFC Quick Rated & CMA Rated
  • TIEBREAK RULES:  1) Direct encounter 2) Buchholz 3) Number of games won (not including forfeits) 4) Sonneborn-Berger
  • REGISTRATION: On-line registration ends  Oct 19th at 10:00 am. No on-site registration will be accepted.
  • ENTRY FEE:  $55/ entry by Oct 15th; regular : $65

PRIZE: Trophy for the first place, Medals for the second and third place in each Division. Additional $1000 prize for the Top 3 overall scores across the 4 Qualifiers (based on total points from at least 3 events).

QUALIFICATION:

  • Players who score 2.5 points qualify for CYCC 2026.

  • Players who score 3 pointsqualify for the Ontario Chess Challenge 2026.

  • Players who score 3 points qualify for the Canadian Junior Scholarship Final on January 18 2026, with a $5,000 guaranteed prize fund.

WITHDRAW POLICY:
  • Pre-registered and pre-paid participants who withdraw at least 3 days before the event start date are eligible for a refund via EMT, subject to a $5 handling fee deducted from the entry fee. In all other cases, the full credit will be retained for use in future events.  
  • All emergencies should go through  [email protected]  for communications regarding withdrawal, travel delays, or other late-breaking information.
