Chess4win August Open Rapid (CFC & FIDE Rated)

FORMAT AND EVENT DETAILS

• WHEN: Saturday, August 9th 2025, 12:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Rd #1 starts at 13:00 pm.

• SCHEDULE:  12:30 pm check in, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm tournament, 5:30 - 6:00 ceremony

• WHERE:730 Cochrane Dr #1,Markham ( Duncan Academy , spacious place with free Wi-Fi , indoor badminton court and table tennis room) 

• WHAT: 5-round single-round Rapid Event (Swiss), using a 25 min + 5 sec time control.

• DIVISIONS: Open

• RATED: CFC & FIDE Quick Rated

• TIEBREAK RULES:  1) Direct encounter 2) Buchholz 3) Number of games won (not including forfeits) 4) Sonneborn-Berger

• REGISTRATION: On-line registration ends August 9th at 10:00 am. No on-site registration will be accepted.

• ENTRY FEE:  $40/ entry by July 27th.  regular : $50

• PRIZE(By tiebreak, no split): 1st Place: $150; 2nd Place: $100; 3rd Place: $50

• NOTES: No requested bye points in this event. Clocks and chess set are provided. By signing up, you permit Chess4win the ability to take and use photos from the tournament on its social media. If you would not like your photo used, please email us at [email protected].

WITHDRAW POLICY:

• Pre-registered and pre-paid participants who need to withdraw before the start of the event can receive a full credit or refund via EMT, with a $5 handling fee deducted from the entry fee.

• All emergencies should go through  [email protected]  for communications regarding withdrawal, travel delays, or other late-breaking information.
