Location: 2 Valleywood Dr, Markham
Eligibility: CFC membership required
Rating: Sections will be determined using the highest of CFC or FIDE rating. All sections will be CFC rated. O2000,U2000 and U1700 will also be FIDE rated.
Registration: On-line registration ends July 17th at 10:00 pm. No on-site registration will be accepted.
Capacity: up to 80 players
Time Control: 60 minutes + 30 seconds a move
Format: 5-round Swiss (CFC Regular Rated) or Round Robin format; sections may be combined if there are insufficient entries.
Section: O2000; U2000; U1700; U1200
Schedule:
Round 1: Saturday, August 22, 10 am
Round 2: Saturday, August 22, 2 pm
Round 3: Saturday, August 22, 6 pm
Round 4: Sunday, August 23, 11 am
Round 5: Sunday, August 23, 3 pm
The default forfeit time for any game is 30 min
Entry Fees:
O2000, U2000 & U1700 Sections: $80 Early Bird by August 10; $100 Regular
U1200 Section: $60 Early Bird by August 10; $70 Regular
Playing up: Add $20 if playing up. A player must be within 100 points of the rating floor for the section they wish to play up in.
Byes: A maximum of two half point byes in the first 3 rounds ; zero points byes are allowed for round 4 and 5; All bye requests must be emailed to [email protected]
Prizes:
Prize money will be split among tied winners.
O2000: 30% of the O2000 section entry fees will be awarded to the top three scorers in the O2000 section.
U2000 & U1700: Cash prizes of $200 and $100 will be awarded to the top two players in each section.
U1200: A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the champion of the U1200 section.
Medals will be awarded in all sections.
Special notes: The organizer will supply all chess pieces, chess boards, and clocks.; In case of equality of points the ranking will be decided by tie-break using 1) Direct encounter 2) Buchholz 3) Number of games won (not including forfeits) 4) Sum of the rating of opponent
Cancellation Fees: A $10 processing fee will be applied for any cancellation prior to August 18th. After August 18th, no refunds will be given.
