2026 Chess4win March Open Rapid (CFC & FIDE Rated)

FORMAT AND EVENT DETAILS

WHEN: Sunday, March 15th 2026, Rd #1 starts at 12:30 am.

SCHEDULE:  12:10 pm check in, 12:30 pm - 5:30 pm tournament, 5:30 - 6:00 ceremony

WHERE:730 Cochrane Dr #1,Markham ( Duncan Academy , spacious place with free Wi-Fi , indoor badminton court and table tennis room) 

WHAT: 5-round single-round Rapid Event (Swiss), using a 25 min + 5 sec time control.

DIVISIONS(No Play-Up Allowed): O1500, U1500, Junior U1200 

RATED: CFC & FIDE Quick Rated for O1500; CFC Quick Rated Only for U1500 and Junior U1200

TIEBREAK RULES:  1) Direct encounter 2) Buchholz 3) Number of games won (not including forfeits) 4) Sonneborn-Berger

REGISTRATION: On-line registration ends March 15th at 10:00 am. No on-site registration will be accepted.

ENTRY FEE: $50/ entry by March 5th.  regular : $60

PRIZE(By tiebreak, no split):

1. Individual Prizes:

      The top 3 players will receive 30% of the total tournament entry fees.

• Team Prizes (Teams consist of any 3 players. Each team must include players from at least two different sections.):

      1st Place Team: $150; 2nd & 3rd Place Teams: Medals

NOTES: No requested bye points in this event. Clocks and chess set are provided. By signing up, you permit Chess4win the ability to take and use photos from the tournament on its social media. If you would not like your photo used, please email us at [email protected].

WITHDRAW POLICY:

• Pre-registered and pre-paid participants who withdraw at least 3 days before the event start date are eligible for a refund via EMT, subject to a $5 handling fee deducted from the entry fee.
• Withdrawals made 1 day before the event will receive full credit, which may be applied to future events.
• No refunds or credits will be issued for withdrawals made on the tournament day.
