Dates: Starts on Saturday, October 10th, 2026@10:00 am

Location: 730 Cochrane Dr #1,Markham ( Duncan Academy , spacious place with free Wi-Fi ) 

Eligibility: CFC membership required

Rating: Sections will be determined using the highest of CFC or FIDE rating. All sections will be CFC rated. O2100, U2100 and U1700 will also be FIDE rated.

Registration:  Online registration ends on October 9th at 10:00 PM. No on-site registration will be accepted.  

Capacity: 150 players

Section: O2100, U2100 , U1700,  U1200

Time Control: 90 minutes + 30 seconds a move ;60 minutes + 30 seconds a move for U1200

Format: 6 Rounds Swiss for O2100, U2100 and U1700; 5 Rounds Swiss for U1200


Schedule:  

Round 1: October 10, 10:00 am

Round 2: October 10, 4:00 pm

Round 3: October 11, 10:00 am

Round 4: October 11, 4:00 pm

Round 5: October 12, 10:00 am

Round 6: October 12, 4:00 pm

U1200 Schedule:
October 10 at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 4:00 PM
October 11 at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM

The default forfeit time for any game is 30 min

Entry Fees:

  • O2100, U2100 & U1700:$100 before September 15; $110 before October 3; regular entry fee is $130.
  • U1200: $70 before September 15; regular entry fee is $90.
  • Free Entry for GMs, IMs, WGMs, WIMs, and players rated FIDE 2200+.

Playing up: Add $20 if playing up. A player must be within 100 points of the rating floor for the section they wish to play up in.

Byes: A maximum of two half point byes in the first 4 rounds; zero points byes are allowed for round 5 and 6; All bye requests must be emailed to [email protected]

Prizes(Based on paid entries): 

  • O2100: 40% of the total entry fees collected in this section, awarded to the top 3 finishers.
  • U2100: 30% of the total entry fees collected in this section, awarded to the top 2 finishers.
  • U1700: 20% of the total entry fees collected in this section, awarded to the top 2 finishers.
  • U1200: $100 for 1st place and $50 for 2nd place, plus a Championship Trophy and Medals.

May increase based on entries.  Prize money is split between winners in case of a tie.   

Tiebreak Rules: 1) Direct encounter 2) Buchholz 3) Number of games won (not including forfeits) 4) Sum of the ratings of the opponents (without one result)

Special Notes:  The organizer will supply all chess pieces, chess boards, and clocks.

Cancellation Fees: A $10 processing fee will be applied for any cancellation prior to October 2nd. After October 2nd, no refunds will be given.
