2026 Chess4win Thanksgiving Open Rapid (OPEN , Junior U1400 , Junior U1000)

FORMAT AND EVENT DETAILS

WHEN: Monday, October12th, 2026, Rd #1 starts at 11：00 am.

SCHEDULE: 11:00 am -4:00 pm tournament, 4:00 - 4:30 ceremony

WHERE: 730 Cochrane Dr #1,Markham (Duncan Academy , spacious place with free Wi-Fi , indoor badminton court and table tennis room) 

WHAT: 5-round single-round Rapid Event (Swiss), using a 20 min + 5 sec time control.

DIVISIONS(No Play-Up Allowed): Open ;Junior U1400 ; Junior U1000

RATED: CFC Quick Rated Only

TIEBREAK RULES:  1) Direct encounter 2) Buchholz 3) Number of games won (not including forfeits) 4) Sonneborn-Berger

REGISTRATION: On-line registration ends November 12 at 8:00 am. No on-site registration will be accepted.

ENTRY FEE: $40/ entry by October 5th.  regular : $50

PRIZE(By tiebreak, no split):

50% of open section entry fees awarded to the top 3 in the Open section (No Split, by tie-break).

Trophies and medals will be awarded in  all sections .  

NOTES: No requested bye points in this event. Clocks and chess set are provided. By signing up, you permit Chess4win the ability to take and use photos from the tournament on its social media. If you would not like your photo used, please email us at [email protected].

WITHDRAW POLICY:

• Pre-registered and pre-paid participants who withdraw at least 3 days before the event start date are eligible for a refund via EMT, subject to a $5 handling fee deducted from the entry fee.
• Withdrawals made 1 day before the event will receive full credit, which may be applied to future events.
• No refunds or credits will be issued for withdrawals made on the tournament day.
